Pressing a button is only the start of an event; the real work is that request becoming a task with a named owner and a running clock. The request point may be a button in the room, a pull cord in the bathroom, a handset at a patient bed, a card reader in the corridor or a mobile application. The record landing in the queue is assigned by zone, shift and competence rules, and stays open until someone accepts it. This is where it parts from an intercom: the conversation ends, the record does not.

The clock starts

Every stage is written with a timestamp: opening, acceptance, arrival, closure. Closing from the unit in the room, or by a card read where the service was given, is what makes the record trustworthy. A call closed at a desk clears the list without finishing the work. An unaccepted call escalates by itself, first to a second person in the same zone, then to the shift supervisor. Without escalation steps the queue piles up quietly, and delay becomes visible only through a complaint.

Reading the queue

An arrangement that notifies everyone stops being heard. Notification goes to the terminal of the person the task was assigned to; the corridor lamp and shift board only show state. Priority keeps a cleaning request and an urgent help call out of the same order, and status messages from a door unit, such as “do not disturb”, never enter the queue.

The accumulated record shows which zone piles up at which hours and which requests are faults in disguise. A repeating request is maintenance work rather than a service call; once that distinction can be made, the record turns into a work order and the shift plan follows from that reading.
