A gaming floor has no closing time. The crowd grows after midnight while service and maintenance are squeezed into the quietest hour of the day. A cinema screening, an event programme and a nightclub emptying out arrive one after another inside the same building. In an operation like this, the maintenance window is a short interval opened by prior notice rather than a closure in any usual sense.

Floor area divides into what is open to everyone and a route only a counted few may walk. Cash desk, count room and VIP gaming salon sit a few paces off the gaming floor; the door between them records both who passed and at what hour. Shopping and entertainment centres draw the same line around stockrooms, plant rooms and car park payment points. On the CCTV side the expectation is that recording never breaks: a gap means an incident nobody can look back at.

The environment itself works against the technique. In a darkened hall, under moving light and inside bass-heavy sound pressure, neither an image nor an announcement carries on its own. A message perfectly clear in the bar and restaurant area is lost beneath the music on the dance floor. For an evacuation call to be heard, the audio line has to cut the music zone by zone and take the room. Otherwise the warning dissolves into the noise.
