Smart Villa and Living Technologies

EXAMPLE SCENARIO

This is not a live customer reference — it is an illustrative example scenario.

SMART HOME VILLA

  • Lighting
  • Climate
  • Security
  • Energy
  • Mobile Control

What shapes the design of a house is the absence of technical staff. No operator stands permanently on site; whoever lives there is usually the person who looks at the panel when something fails, changes a setting and calls for service. Every decision is therefore tested against how the house behaves when a component stops working.

Lighting and blind control stay local on the KNX line. The wall keypad talks straight to the actuator, so the light comes on with the server down, no internet and the mobile app refusing to open. Scenes, schedules and remote control are a second path laid over that line, never a path that replaces it. The distinction looks small, and it is exactly what makes a house livable where no technical support is at hand.

On the climate side the physics of the building behaves differently. An underfloor slab warms slowly and cools slowly, so a scheme reacting the moment somebody walks into a room gives the wrong result for comfort and consumption alike. Setpoints are therefore shifted in advance against habit and the trend of the outside air, while occupancy data serves only fine adjustment. Energy measurement starts at the distribution board: seeing what each circuit draws separates a continuously running load from a seasonal one.

When nobody is home

A long absence is a separate operating mode for the house. Heating does not shut off completely, the frost and humidity thresholds are held; lighting thins into a pattern that still reads as lived in; detection along the entrance and the garden line grows sharper. An alert raised in the middle of the night is expected to be right, and where moving branches and a stray animal go unfiltered, residents silence it quickly and detection becomes useless.

CCTV placement follows the same measure: entrance, garden line and technical rooms are covered, living spaces are not. Recording stays in the house, and mobile authority is defined separately for the household and for domestic help. Replacing hardware is unavoidable, so where addressing and scene definitions are documented at the board, a failed actuator gives way to a new one without reprogramming the whole line.
